Shipping & Damages

It is our priority to take care of you if you receive a damaged shipment but do need your help in documenting the damages. Olivelle is responsible for filing a claim for damaged shipments, but as the receiver it is your responsibility to document damage properly. Without proper documentation, our claim is likely to be denied, so we need your help to make sure shipping claims is a smooth process. Whenever you receive an order, please follow the below procedure to check for damages:
(*Please note if you arrange shipping for your order you will be responsible for filing a damage claim.*)
1. Inspect for Visual Damage
  • Ensure that the "shrink wrap" on a pallet is tight with no open/exposed areas.
  • Check that the pallet boards are not damaged, and that the bottom layer of the pallet does not look damaged or crushed.
  • Note any areas where the pallet or its contents are crushed, wet, dirty, discolored, torn, etc.
  • For small pack shipments, note any areas where the box looks damaged such as being crushed, wet, dirty, discolored , etc
2. Document the Damage
  • If there is visible damage have the truck driver notate concerns on the delivery receipt or have the driver notate on his handheld device for small pack orders. Do NOT let the driver leave before this is done.
  • If there is visible damage, no matter how small, take photos. Photos should include all sides of the pallet/box, a close up of the damaged areas, and of the shipping labels clearly stating the ship to/from address.
3.Inspect for Concealed Damage
  • Concealed damage is found when you begin unloading your shipment.
  • Take photos of any damaged boxes or product. Photos of concealed damage should just include a close up of the damaged box or product. Contact Olivelle ASAP
  • Send all photos and explanations of damages topurchasing@olivelle.com.
  • Damages should be reported within24 hours of receiving your shipment in order for us to meet time constraints for reporting damaged shipments.
  • Damaged product will either be resent or a credit will be applied to your account for the amount of the damaged product.
If there is any doubt in your mind about potential damages, the main thing to remember is to ask the driver to notate the damage as:
"Pallet (or Package) not intact, food containers damaged/potentially damaged".
